DAY 29 - Miracles

When I talk about miracles, I mean something positive and life giving that happens without any visible cause. In that sense, the world is full of miracles at our every turn if only we have the eyes to see them.

Even when I study the most recent theories of particle physics (a hobby of mine - I am no expert) and I understand the deepest mechanics of what all things are made of and what causes them to work, it never diminishes my sense of wonder and gratefulness for the miracle we call Life. That’s because while science explains the HOW - we each bring our own WHY.

So over these next few days as I explore the central role of the miraculous in our human experience, I first want to acknowledge that in my mind there is no divide between the discoveries of science and how I see the place of miracles in my life.

Here is my first thought:

I am a miracle! You are a miracle!

In the words of Dr Wayne Dyer: “When you know and feel the miracle that you are, you become certain that nothing is impossible for you.”

Here is the problem - I used to believe that I was anything but a miracle.

All the negative and abusive events that have happened to us throughout our life - from our relationships, upbringing and society - can tell us we are of little or low worth. We feel we are anything but a miracle and undeserving of such a thought. And yet this is where miracles begin:

It is only human to fear, to bear a grudge and not forgive those who have wronged us in any way - especially when they did it unjustly and without remorse. We are left feeling diminished and of little value in our own eyes. Take heart, because this is the lead or base metal that the ancient alchemists used to create their inner gold.

When we take our thoughts about those who have wronged and harmed us, asking for Love to help us, and we begin to forgive and send back Love to our abusers then Alchemy happens. Our self-perception miraculously shifts to one of realizing our true worth and value. This has been my experience.

Our abusers may never change, but if we forgive and send only positive thoughts to them, we will experience a new Love for ourselves - ten times over. Why does this happen? Because by forgiving our abusers we are also forgiving ourselves and Love is able to miraculously change how we see ourselves.

Of course we do not need to keep accepting the abuse if it is within our power to remove ourselves from it. There is no place for abuse in Love, but we can forgive it and move on.

In this way the despised base lead of ourselves, through the Alchemy of Love is transformed into gold. You will begin to see the miracle that is you.

I will discuss this more tomorrow, and here is our mantra for today:

I will let Love help me to forgive, so I can see the miracle that is me.
