DAY 25 - The Heart

For the last two days of this series of meditations we have been looking at the character of the alchemist in Paulo’s story. We have seen how he appears in Santiago’s life at a critical moment in his personal transformation toward True Empowerment.

We discovered how the alchemist is there for Santiago to encourage him to turn his new found power into action and to assist him as he faces new challenges in his engagement with the world.

Whenever you reach a positive stage of personal growth - a stage of wholeness and improvement in your well-being - it will be tested and to pass through it you will need to listen to your heart.

Santiago learns from the alchemist that he will never be able to escape his heart so he’d better listen to what it has to say - so as not to fear an unanticipated test.

When our heart seems to be leading us off track and new found difficulties arise in our life we often say, ‘I didn’t see that coming!’ or ‘Well that I didn’t expect to react that way!’ When in truth if we had taken the time to know the ways of our heart and paid attention to it’s natural contrariness, we would not be surprised at all.

Your heart is not by nature constantly positive. It does have a ‘mind of its own’. It can be treasonous and potentially destructive, but that does not mean we have to do what it wants.

Your heart does not want to suffer and even though you have worked hard to heal and move on - your heart will object when you take action. The secret is to listen to your heart but also to counter its fears with truth.

Ironically, your already heart knows the truth of the universe - that searching for true empowerment is the only way to live - and everyone on earth has a treasure that awaits them. When your heart realises you know this to be true - that you have discovered it’s secret wisdom - it will begin to work in your favor and if you listen, it will tell you when you are going off track away from your treasure.

There is something you should know at this critical moment of your personal transformation:

This is the point at which most people give up because they don’t believe their heart is capable of showing them where their treasure lies.

We would prefer to shrink back into our old ways and thought patterns. It’s true that the world is full of traps and snares for us to fall into. Yes we will have to stand up for ourselves and learn to take on the forces that stand between us and our treasure.

But there is one fact we must never lose sight of and if we hold it close to mind it will stand by us - come what may. It is a fact that:

When you seek to find your real treasure - you will find it by following your heart, because all the Love in the universe is on your side.
